Logista, one of Europe's largest logistics operators, announced earlier this year the acquisition of Belgium Parcels Service (BPS), a specialist in the express distribution of pharmaceutical parcels in Belgium and Luxembourg. This strategic acquisition marks an important step in Logista's expansion in Europe and strengthens its position in the pharmaceutical distribution and courier segment.

BPS is a company offering 24-hour courier services in Belgium and Luxembourg and 24 to 48-hour courier services in the Netherlands, France and Germany. The Belgian company specialises in the distribution of sensitive products, mainly temperature-controlled pharmaceuticals, to hospitals and pharmacies.

This transaction completes the acquisition of Speedlink Worldwide Express (Speedlink) in 2022, which marked Logista's entry into the Dutch market, the country with the largest number of B2B distribution centres in Europe.

This transaction, together with that of Speedlink, gives Logista access to the whole of the Benelux region, thereby extending its presence in Central Europe. BPS, which has been active in the transport market for over 25 years, has a 3,500 square metre warehouse and handles around 700,000 shipments a year. The acquisition of 100% of the company[1] was completed for a consideration of approximately €8 million, subject to the closing of the audited accounts for 2023.

This acquisition is also part of the strategic plan Logista launched two years ago. Focused on geographic and commercial diversification, this strategy enables Logista to benefit from synergies, improve its market position or expand into new markets in Europe.

Íñigo Meirás, CEO of Logista, explains: "This strategic transaction allows us to increase our exposure to the pharmaceutical mail distribution segment in a key region of Europe. In addition, this acquisition complements Nacex's core business."

Carlos García-Mendoza, Logista's director of corporate strategy, added: "With this acquisition, we are strengthening our inorganic growth strategy, developing Nacex's business internationally through a specialist distributor with the same quality and service criteria."

[1] The transaction was formalised by the acquisition of 100% of the shares of 3 For One, S.A., the parent company of Belgium Parcel Service SRL.
